Le peintre anglais Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775-1851) fut l'un des plus importants paysagistes du XIXe siècle. Vues topographiques, aquarelles et marines romantiques constituent autant de recherches sur l'atmosphère d'un paysage qu'il s'emploiera sa vie durant à dissoudre dans la lumière et la couleur, jusqu'à évoluer vers l'abstraction.

The English painter Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775-1851) was one of the most important landscape painters of the 19th century. His topographical views, watercolors and romantic seascapes are all research on the atmosphere of a landscape that he worked throughout his life to dissolve in light and color, until he evolved towards abstraction.
